I Have Done Something

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter; the cast-offs of human society.

I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry.

"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"

God was silent for a moment, and then spoke softly, "I have done something," was the reply. "I created you."

 ARTHUR

Just a quick update on Arthur who we adopted shortly before Christmas.

Arthur (known as Awesome Arthur) is an amazing cat (who should have been a dog by the way!). He has brought an amazing amount of joy to our family, who were grieving the loss of another lovely cat. He has endless patience with my 2 children, who are 7 and 3. He particularly loves my son (the elder) and thinks nothing of waking him up when he wants a game, even in the middle of the night! He has really found his feet outside, and enjoys playing football! He is getting as big as you promised, and now he's had his 'little op', he's only going to get bigger.

So many re homing charities will not allow families with young children to adopt, and I want to thank you for allowing us to, because my children (and me and my husband) are completely in love with him, and cant imagine life without him. I attach a photo of Arthur with our other cat, Maggie.

thanks again.

LUCY

29/04/2012 This is Lucy well settled into her new home. She lives with a retired couple who dont make too many demands of her. She happily walks beside her dads mobility scooter and has found the perfect home. I suspect she may gain a few pounds instead of shedding some so they have been instructed accordingly.

TROUBLE & DARLING (Borice & Dorice)

26/04/2012 We adopted Trouble and Darling (previously know as Borice & Doris), just after new year, after a few days when they played "hide and refuse to come out", they have now settled in fantastic and now never leave our side when we are home.  They watch TV with us, sleeps with us and (tries to) eat our food.  They love being cuddled and gets very excited when we have visitors since they gets all the attention.  Thanks to SAR for our lovely girls.

BEN

24/04/2012 We took Ben from the pound last year as he had been picked up stray in Bury. He was very thin with an awful patchy coat. After a day in the vets being castrated and having his rotten teeth sorted out he began to feel much better. He is a very handsome boy now with a glossy coat and no bones showing, so has done very well for himself during the last year.

HONEY

24/04/2012 Honey has settled in well in her new home and as you can see has a new best friend Putnum.

 BENJI & JAMIE

24/04/2012 Both dogs are settling in well. They enjoy their walks, even quite long ones. They like their toys - as you can see, and they like scrambled egg and toast for breakfast! I'm so glad that we took them in as they are a really nice pair - very obedient and good recall.

BELTZA & KURO (Steve & Pete)

15/04/2012 Sorry it’s taken so long to update you on the boys, things have been rather hectic as it’s like having a pair of babies around again, the house is a mess full of toys and they love emptying the bins and kindling basket. They are doing brilliantly and have made so much difference to our lives especially after loosing Nero under such awful circumstance. As you know we changed their names to Beltza (Pete) Kuro (Steve). They are both very chatty and respond to their new names instantly. They are all vaccinated and have started going out this week. You can see them exploring the garden together in the picture.

Beltza although not the bossy one, that’s Kuro, is certainly more adventurous and mastered the cat flap 1st time Kuro got the ump as Beltza went out and left him indoors so he did bush his tail and groan at him when he came in. The next day was so funny Beltza hung around for him and showed him how to go in and out, so we have had lots of laughs the last few days. They are inseparable and just adorable.

Thanks again as you can see they are now very much cherished and loved.

The Clarkes.

 HERBERT & DENNIS

21.03.2012 This is Herbert & Dennis taking part in their favourite sport of synchronised sleeping!

Previously known as Hugo & Diesel, i got them from SAR last summer. They were domestics who had been given up, and were very depressed in the cattery, but within hours of getting them home their cheeky personalities started to show.

They have settled in beautifully with my other 3 cats, and are lovely gentle boys. I am so glad i took the risk of taking on older cats. now all i have to do is work out how to get in and out of bed without causing too much upset!!

JESS & HARRY

11.03.2012 Jess and Harry settling into their new home. Jess is doing remarkably well following her bid for freedom that resulted in three nights out in the cold, wet weather!! We couldn't have hoped for two more affectionate and playful cats.

MEG

06.03.2012  Hi all at Suffolk Animal Rescue, We adopted Meg on 2/11/11 and since then she has been settling into her new home. We had a few entertaining episodes of her chewing items left within her reach.. which included a bag of lolly pops, 10 tea lights (came out looking like a candle) and my mobile phone! She is such a lovely dog and has made friends with all of the local hounds and owners. Our thanks and best wishes to Donna Meg's foster mum). Meg had so much fun in the snow and we've included a photo.
Regards
Joy and Ian Quilter

SWEEP

04.02.2012 "We were delighted to learn that Sweep has settled in to his new home already.  He has moved in with a female rabbit who had recently lost her partner and they have bonded really quickly.  Sweep is enjoying a lovely enclosure that will be the envy of caged rabbits everywhere!"

                                                                                                                                                HAMILTON (Previously known as Chip)

17.01.2012 Here's a lovely update about Chip, now known as Hamilton "Hamilton (our name for Chip) has been with us for a couple of months now and he really is a part of our family. So much so that he is sitting on my lap as I type! He's a real character and has settled in well. The children love him and he plays with our older cat George who seems to have had a new lease of life since his arrival! He has grown a lot and is very healthy, he's always on the move and is now starting to explore outside having recently mastered the cat flap. He is happiest either playing with a straw or showing off his beautiful markings to anyone who's passing!" His new family sent us a photo of him enjoying the fire - Happy Days Hamilton.x

  ALFIE (Previously known as Ricky)

11.01.2012: We have received some lovely photographs from Alfie's new family showing just how well he is settling in with them. They tell us he really enjoyed being with the extended family over the holidays, and wearing his red Christmas neckerchief! He also enjoyed several slices of Turkey! They tell us "he is a lovely boy, loves running off the lead, and is very good with other dogs also off the lead. He was particularly good the other Monday when we had our youngest granddaughter for the day. We were a little worried as he does get very enthusiastic when people come to visit (!), but he was so good with her - a real gentleman!" Fantastic News congratulations Alfie.

                                                                                                                                   CHERRY

15.12.2011: Here is an update from Cherry's new family. "You may like to know that Cherry is doing well and is still gaining confidence – we have had her for almost a year now. A trip to the vet for a jab took her right back to her feral roots while she was on the table, and she was tail down when she came out of the cage back home, but within a couple of hours, she was back to her happy self. She still thinks of every new thing as a potential threat and she has a little way to go before she is as confident as our twelve year old boy cat. She is very fond of dead leaves and the fact that I am very bad with houseplants is a good mix! She fetches the dead ones off the plant for me and I vacuum up their shredded remains. I remember when she came to us she would not look up at all – now she will look straight at us without fear, she is happy and affectionate and she loves to be brushed – here is a picture of her. Adopting Cherry has been a very positive experience for us – getting close to a feral is a long process but has been so rewarding that we would gladly do it all over again."

MATILDA

03.12.2011: Matilda is settling in very well in her new home and her family tell us that their older cat has now accepted her, and from this photo it looks like they are definately enjoying each others company.

                                                                                       MAX

11.11.2011: Here is our Max out for a play with is new family which include Panda & Patch who we also rehomed. His new family recently sent us this message "He is still being a really good boy, getting more confident, and starting to play. Its really great to see his tail wagging, and see him running round the garden nice and relaxed. Weirdly he really really doesn't like to walk out of the garden, on or off the lead, even just to go up the track to the fields ! So we have not been pushing that one, just letting him take his time. He still loves to go in the car, and when we take him out in the car he is getting very good on the lead, especially when we are both with him. Yesterday we took him to Shingle Street and let him off the lead (first time we had done so away from home) and he was as good as gold. He took no notice of the sea at all though, either his eyesight is not so good or he has seen it all before ! He has met and charmed several of our friends, including an 11 year old who previously used to be scared of big dogs, but is not now ! And the cats are all working out how to avoid him. There has been no food aggression at all, and he lets us brush him (avoiding the more ticklish bits to start with though !). We love Max to bits and are so pleased he has come to live with us. Thanks so much for not giving up on him and for giving him another chance at happiness."

MARLEY

13.11.2011: Marley's new family managed to get us some photos of him and he's looking really well. He is growing to be a handsome little boy and as he gets bigger he gets braver with the rough and tumble with his two adopted older brothers.

BETTY & VIOLET

16.10.2011: Two cats recently adopted, one now named Violet and the other originally advertised as Betty Blue. Temporarily called Lola. Now renamed Betty. News comes to us to say that they have settled with one another and are both very active giving their new family headaches by hiding in the garden.

PHEOBE

21.7.2011: We've been hoping for an update on our Pheobe and here it is! Phoebe was previously rehomed by SAR but unfortunately had to come back to us through no fault of her own. We're pleased to say her new owner has contacted us through our Facebook page and tells us she is settling into her new home well with her new friend Toby.
